First there was 'Apartment'. Then came 'Preloved'.
Debut and sophomore efforts that reflected times, places, sentiments and stories in musical vignettes.
Now there is 'Paper Planes'. Cut from a different mould than its predecessors, the new 9-track collection from Australian singer/songwriter David Christopher showcases life observations from the busy streets of Hanoi's old quarter.
Infused with heavier guitars, horn sections, choirs and bolder, brighter rhythms, 'Paper Planes' displays Christopher in an about face stylistically, most evident in the hard rocking 'Androids' and 'Hope', the downbeat soul of 'Anybody' and power pop of the album's title track.
Taking musical cues from such diverse artists as Supergrass, Sloan, Foo Fighters and The Beatles. 'Paper Planes' was recorded in just four weeks using a temporary bedroom studio in the beautiful seaside town of Kiama, Australia.
Paper Planes was released through Crimson Retriever Records on Monday 14th December, 2015.
